Are you one of those people who love woodworking and seek joy out of it? If yes, well you might already know that every woodworking project requires a certain amount of time and effort to be invested in it. In some cases, it’s almost the same as the construction projects, and many people say that building a wooden shed is synonymous to building a brick wall. You might have spent thousands of hours on your first wooden project (big scale) and hundreds for a small scale wooden project. Overview

I have spent a truckload of time on the same for five years by purchasing and reading Woodworking books, going through woodworking plan blueprints and understanding woodworking designs. I haven’t come across a single plan that had everything I needed, forget the step by step instructions.

Types of available DIY Sheds

Wooden sheds have a characteristic look that can mix in well with the environment In spite of the quality of wood, after some time, untreated and ignored wood can decay, split, twist or wind up noticeably powerless to form and mould, so wood sheds ought to be dealt with for insurance with stain and varnish. Wood sheds require regular support. This incorporates keeping plant matter, flotsam and jetsam from heaping up adjacent to the dividers and on the rooftop, and infrequent decay sealing with the additive.

Sheds are once in a while additionally re-recolored or varnished now and again for stylish and wood assurance reasons. Fire and, in a few areas, termite assault, are likewise potential issues. The damage to wooden sheds can be prevented by applying preservatives when they are exposed to rain, UV light, harsh climate, fungal attacks, insects etc. If you add oil or stain, the wood shed can be made to stand out in the garden given the style it can even blend with the surroundings. Some prominent type of woods like Cedar is resistant to water damage, naturally.

Therefore, when planning a wooden shed, it is important to know about the materials and preservatives. Timber can be treated in two different ways: Pressure treatment and Dip treatment.

Dip treatment

The Dip treated sheds are made of components which are usually lowered into the tanks of preservatives even before the panels are assembled. This is a low-cost process that can be done simply, and also it encourages the manufacturers to use a wide variety of treatments making the shed types available for the DIYers. There are recognisable given that they usually come in golden brown due to the preservative dye that is added. Most of the manufacturers offer you around 10-year guarantee on dip treated sheds along with anti-rot treatment, but one has to recoat every year or the alternative year.

Pressure treatment

Pressure treated sheds, on the other hand, are made out of timber planks that usually have moisture which is sucked out of them using a special cylinder under vacuum conditions. After the moisture is sucked out, a preservative is added to the wood at a relatively high pressure until the preservative is absorbed into the grain, making it an integral part of the wood. This particular type provides around 15-year guarantee as mentioned by the manufacturers even against harsh weather.

The sheds available can be distinguished easily as they come in pale green that eventually fades into silvery grey. The Pressure treated sheds are relatively a bit costlier than the DIP treated sheds and the advantage of using them is that they don’t need further preservative treatment and can serve the whole during the entire ten years saving a lot of time and money.

Ryan's Shed Plans – Examples

The three most important type of Ryan Shed Plans are:

  • Garden Shed
  • Gambrel Roof Shed
  • Storage Shed

Garden Shed

Garden Sheds are the most common type of sheds that you find in every backyard. Right from the typical Colorbond Shed to the charming mini building adjoined shed that is made of both timber and steel, they bring beauty to the build. Garden Buildings are basically must because most of the houses tend to be beautiful with these. They are incredibly beautiful, authentic and useful for everyone for some or other purpose. Therefore, the Ryan Shed Plans contain some of the very feasible Garden Shed plans from which you can pick a design that seems suitable to you.

Gambrel Roof Shed

The Roofs of the sheds usually come in different shapes, sizes, and styles. One impeccable style among then is the Gambrel Roof, highly associated with barns and pole barns. The advantage of adopting this style is that these sheds can be used as high capacity storage spaces because of the steeper sides. Most of the recent homes have Gambler Roof Sheds because of the intricate beauty they bring to the home. Instead of bringing a standard roof, it won’t make much difference to bring a Gambrel Roof, given that you match the materials to your building.

Storage Shed

Are you looking forward to building a storage shed? Well, there are quite many factors that one has to consider before you sit for this DIY project like the design, materials, price, and size. Most of us usually get attracted to the lowest prices given that they come at very low costs, ignoring the alternatives. But these plans here can be constructed with Cedar and Vinyl will cost you around few hundred dollars even when built with low-quality materials. That being said, most of the blueprints in Ryan Shed Plans Blueprints are exclusively designed as storage sheds and you can choose any of them to make things easy for you.

What's Good?

With that kind of quantity, there are indeed a lot of good designs that you can find in this pack. However, the absurd amount of content is abundant for all level of woodworkers. The drawings are exclusively technical with the bonus materials which make the package, a lifetime one. The designs in this package are brainstorming. As an amateur carpenter, I’m starting from a point where I haven’t taught of building design; I came a long way and half of the credit goes to Ryan Shed Plans. The shed plans provided here are very original and indeed are fun to build if you can combine a lot of plans into one.

What's Bad?

When you have around 12,000 plans that are claimed to be shed designs, not all of them can be good. Some of them are predominant, some of them are mediocre while some of them are utterly absurd and are even hard to read. There are even incomplete plans in the Ryan Shed Plans package, and many of these plans don’t include the materials, making it frustrating. The download pages of most of the designs in Ryan Shed Plans are not organized.

When you open them on the computer, you have to fill them up and make them organized as the PDFs and Ebooks are either in not very compatible format like you have to rotate them the right way every single time. The product is not exactly disappointing on a whole, but with so many blueprints it is tough to find which one is good and which one is not as you have to go through all of them to decide that.

Conclusion

So, if you ask “Should I buy Ryan Shed Plans?”, My answer is yes.
